Credit Repair Attorneys Vs. DIY Credit Repair - Which is the Better Credit Repair Strategy?

Credit repair firms, such as Lexington Credit Repair, can assist you with your credit repair activities; however, in my opinion, they really are not required. These types of credit repair firms, while totally legitimate, will really only do for you what you can already do for yourself  with one giant exception - they charge you a fee to do it. These fees can be pretty hefty sometimes as well.

You also need to be aware of the numerous unscrupulous credit repair firms out there. There are lots of these shady operations and this is the main reason I recommend simply steering clear of them altogether. However, if you must use a credit repair lawyer, Lexington is probably the best known and most respected of the bunch. I have colleagues that have used their credit repair services and they have had nothing but good things to say about the services rendered by Lexington Credit Repair.

The way these outfits work is pretty straightforward. You usually have to sign a power of attorney that allows them to act on your behalf. By doing this, you permit the credit reporting agencies and collection agencies to deal with the directly on your behalf. These credit repair firms will usually start by sending out validation letters and dispute letters to the credit reporting agencies and debt collectors on your behalf. The letters they send are similar to the many that you can find online with a simple Google search. However, the letters sent by a credit repair attorney generally carry a bit more weight than letters that you would send since they are being sent by experienced credit repair attorneys. That being said, the letters are still pretty similar to what you would send if you were doing your own credit repair.
